Hey, I’m Lena, welcome to Pages and pathways!
If the internet was a castle, Pages and Pathways would be the sign post at the front of the drawbridge saying, ‘go this way to visit the garden!’
It’s crazy times out there!
In the UK, Brexit exposed deep wounds at the center of our society, in the US, politics pitted friends against each other, and all over the world, COVID turned our once solid footing into a pile of mushy strawberry jelly beneath our feet…. and it seems nowadays, that everyone is reacting to something…..reactions of reactions…. outrage met with outrage….
Bombarded with the constancy of this constancy, many of us now suffer from an addiction to the drama. Indeed, I’ve often found myself scrolling and checking my newsfeed, looking for the next shocking/annoying/sad/anger inducing thing to react to…. all the while feeling more and more on edge and less happy.
Art offers little escape. It has always been political, but the political has now become art, and it’s so ubiquitous that important messages become meaningless. You’ve forgotten how to react. You pick up a book, or you watch a film, hoping to be entertained, to just get away from the constant messaging, and what do you find? More politics, more social commentary, more reasons to worry about things going on in the world, things that are, all too often, outside of your control.
Now, I’m not saying that these things aren’t important or worthy of discussion – they absolutely are, I’m just saying that they take up a lot of space. I believe that for our own wellbeing, we need to find places to escape to. We need to do more off-line and have places online that we can retreat to away from it all. Spaces where people can come together, no matter their beliefs or political persuasions, to share in our common interests and goals
This is what Pages and Pathways is all about!
Life is a journey of many twists and turns…. but there’s also some seriously big sink holes waiting to engulf us!
I believe the only way to survive the madness and keep ourselves on track, is to remember the things we love, to keep discovering new passions and grow our appreciation for the things we take for granted.
On Pages and Pathways, we revel in beauty, lavish in literature and delight in exploring the lovely places we have all around us. We get to know ourselves, we appreciate ourselves, accept our flaws and grow in confidence. We discover new ways to live mindfully, find fulfillment and bring joy into our lives and share that joy with our friends and family.
If you like the sound of that, then welcome to your space!
I hope you stay a while, look around, and maybe find something that’s useful, interesting, inspiring, or even something that makes you smile.
